Tour Plan

  • Meeting point Tenero, Locarno, Ascona

Join us your closest location (Tenero / Locarno / Ascona). We suggest you bring along water, sunglasses, suncream and you are ready for the experience!

  • Ponte Brolla

People from most of the valleys in Ticino used to live from an economy of subsistence, based on few agricultural products and from the animals. However, from 1850 a.C on, migration especially to Australia and California, have changed society (and food production) drastically. In Ponte Brolla an old Grotto witnesses the emigration of up to 40% of the population from Valle Maggia.

  • Moghegno

Grains and chestnuts were paramount for the survival of people from the valley. In the little village of Moghegno we will visit the Grà, a tiny house used to dry chestnuts, and the torba, where grains were preserved.

  • Boschetto

Hidden behind Cevio, Boschetto has preserved its original architecture, and witnesses still today the cultivation of grapes, and the production of wine.

  • Cevio: visit to the authentic Grottos

In Cevio we will meet the guide, who will bring us for a short (yet a bit steep) walk in the forest behind the Museum of Valle Maggia. This special region is characterized by dozens of Grottos; caves where people from Ticino used to store wine, cheese, ham. Original grottos have special features, which will be revealed by the guide.

  • Apero riche with local products

An apero by Association ValMagia will be served in a unique setting. You will have the chance to taste products from local farmers, relaxing with a good glass of wine.
