Valle Verzasca - An anthropological journey -Chf 145

Valle Verzasca enchants visitors not only with the famous Ponte dei Salti, and the stunning Froda waterfall, but also with its rich history and traditions. In Sonogno, at the Museum of Verzasca our guide will share memories of the valley and narrate stories such as that of the chimney sweepers, bringing the valley’s past to life.

  • Stop 1: Ponte dei Salti, Lavertezzo

    The Ponte dei Salti in Lavertezzo is an iconic stone bridge spanning the Verzasca River. The name "Ponte dei Salti" translates to "Bridge of Jumps," is today a popular spot for tourists to admire the natural beauty of the Verzasca Valley and capture memorable photographs of this picturesque landmark, known today as the Maledives of Milan for its crystal-clear waters.

  • Stop 2: Easy hike to the Froda Waterfall

    Another spot characterized by the beauty and strenght of its water is the magestic Froda waterfall. A short walk will bring us to the peak of the hill where we will have the best view over this energetic place.

  • Stop 3: Lunch at Grotto Efra

    With the waterfall in the background, we will enjoy a delicious lunch at Grotto Efra, featuring local products such as polenta, cheese, salami, and ham, followed by a homemade dessert.

  • Stop 4: Museum of Valle Verzasca

    We will be guided throught the exhibits that showcase the valley’s evolution from ancient times to the present day. Artefacts and displays highlight the traditional lifestyles of the valley’s inhabitants, including farming practices, local crafts, and the unique architectural styles that define the villages of Valle Verzasca, a valley which has testimonied the phenomenon of child chimney sweeps.

  • Stop 5: The bungee jumping bridge

    The Verzasca Valley's 220-meter (721-foot) tall dam is renowned not just for its status as one of Europe's tallest dams, but also as the iconic location for the opening scene of the James Bond movie GoldenEye, featuring Pierce Brosnan.
